Come Follow Me - A Journey Through Lent
Has anything of significance ever happened to you?
I believe, in all of our lives we have significant events happen that totally change our future. For example, when there is a car accident and all of a sudden there is a mother and a wife both gone at the same time. And it was caused by someone else’s bad decision.
Or two of your sons gone in the same accident.
There are consequences for people far beyond the ones involved.
You get that phone call or the police knock on your door and your heart sinks.
And because of this significant event your life, your world has changed.
The MOST significant event that has ever happened in the whole world …
And it has a consequence for every person in the world!
No matter who you are or think you are,
No matter where you live,
No matter what your status in society is,
This event has a consequence for you.
What is this event you ask?
THE EMPTY TOMB!!
Can you imagine?
In the Bible, Mark 16, Matthew 28, Luke 24 and John 20 all tell us that when the ladies came to the tomb of Jesus that it was empty.
He was Gone! GONE!
What does it mean to you?
You can’t say “nothing,” as it means EVERYTHING to you.
It means EVERYTHING to EVERY individual in the world, whether they recognize it or not!
Not believing does not change the fact that the empty tomb has everything to do with your eternity.
To those of us who are frustrated.
To those of us who are disappointed.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Jesus says Come and Follow me.
And I will give you rest, hope and a promise of an eternity where there is no sorrow, where there is no fear, where there are no tears.
The empty tomb assures us that there is an eternity, there is meaning, there is a consequence.
Jesus says have faith, persevere, and come follow me.
